Victoria Road Detention Centre
Stonewest InternationalStonewest Hong Kong has been presented with, not one, but two awards in the category of Hong Kong Building (Renovation/Revitalisation) at The Quality Building Awards!
The first is the Certificate of Finalist Award for the University of Chicago Academic Complex:
Previously the Victoria Road Detention Centre, Stonewest carried out the conservation and revitalisation of the heritage buildings on the site. The Grade 3 historic buildings were converted into The University of Chicago Heritage Courtyard and Interpretation Centre with classrooms and a variety of student spaces. Unique features were retained, such as the disused battery gun emplacement.
The second is the Grand Award for Tai Kwun, Centre of Heritage and Arts:
Stonewest transformed 16 revitalised heritage buildings, including the former Central Police Station, Central Magistracy and Victoria Prison into an art and culture destination. The project was Hong Kong’s largest ever revitalisation project.
