Alteration & Intervention Services: retention & revitalisation of heritage buildings

Alteration & Intervention Services

Retaining and revitalising buildings with adaptive reuse of built heritage, since the most sustainable building is an existing one.

Historic England tell us the most sustainable building is an existing one and we entirely agree.

There is a growing trend which sees Clients moving towards retaining their buildings rather than replacing them, with the adaptive reuse of built heritage playing a key role in the revitalisation of cities and places around the world.

Stonewest fully support this philosophy, not only in terms of preserving historic fabric, but also in helping Clients and Architects to realise the potential of existing facades, including courtyards and atria.

Through careful intervention, salvaging existing materials, and by altering and paying meticulous attention to new detailing, much of what exists can be re-used in an alternative or modern form. This reflects the changing needs of building owners and occupiers, which we are able to support in full.
