London Bridge: Stone Facade Repairs & Special Works Maintenance
Stonewest NewsLondon Bridge looks magnificent in its own right and offers one of the best 360 degree views of the City’s distinctive skyline. We therefore feel very lucky to have two different projects at opposite ends of the bridge.
At the North end, we have been instructed to carryout repairs to the Portland stone facades including window redecoration to Fishmongers Hall. The listed building is one of the oldest livery companies in London and is classed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument as it sits on top of notable Roman remains. A modern lighting scheme is being designed and will accentuate the architectural splendour of the classical facades.
Meanwhile, at the South end of the bridge our Special Works Department continue with the planned maintenance of the hard landscaping at London Bridge City where we have two teams continuously engaged to prevent deterioration of the York sandstone and Irish limestone which create such a dramatic aesthetic to the hard landscaping to the site which covers several acres.
