Project Overview
The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club clubhouse was built in 1939 and has been listed as a Grade III historic building since 2010.
Stonewest (HK) played a key role in restoring the historic granite and masonry elements to their former glory.
Key Successes
- Cleaning of existing granite retaining walls using the Joss Vortech cleaning system.
- Granite mortar and indent repair using salvaged and new material.
- Repointing works using both hydraulic-lime to match the original mortars and a more modern ribbon pointing on the external facade.
- Paint removal on the barrel vault ceilings to return the finish to the original facing brickwork.
- Brick replacement and consolidation of brick surfaces.
- Installation of new dry fixed granite walls to match original walls.
