Live Project
On behalf of the National Trust, Stonewest is delivering a scheme of masonry conservation for the iconic Corfe Castle. Using sensitive repairs, traditional materials and minimal intervention techniques, our skilled craftspeople will preserve its historic walls and towers, ensuring its longevity for years to come. Beloved by locals and a popular visitor attraction, we will keep the community updated throughout the project.
Latest update: our team has installed a viewing platform and stairway in the south annexe of the keep, letting visitors enjoy breathtaking views from the King’s quarters for the first time in 378 years. The free-standing, self-supporting structure has no invasive fixings, and uses protection and softenings to safeguard the historic Castle fabric. This high-level platform has been carefully designed to ensure visitor safety when accessing this nationally important, Scheduled Monument.
The platform also enhances access and understanding for ongoing maintenance, ensuring this iconic site remains preserved for the future. Stonewest is proud to support the National Trust with this as part of a scheme of masonry conservation, safeguarding Corfe Castle’s legacy.
