Windsor Castle – Crimson Room Window
Description
Following The Great Fire in November 1992 which destroyed much of the historic fabric of the castle, Stonewest Ltd produced detailed record drawings of the bay window prior to dismantling of the masonry.
The works involved:
- Stone was saved wherever possible but the heat damaged and fractured units were replaced in Stokes Ground Bath stone as the rebuilding to original detail proceeded.
- Much of the replacement stone involved intricate carving.
