Kings Cross, St Pancras – Phase 1
Description
As part of the planning consent for the redevelopment of Kings Cross, certain buildings required demolition and careful dismantling.
The works involved:
- Prior to works commencing all affected structures were surveyed and recorded to level 4 of the Royal Commission of Historical Monuments of England, in the form of measured survey drawings, written records and black and white photographic record.
- Phase 1 involved the enabling works of the Grade I listed building, the Western Ticket Hall, demonstrating a classic example of how a modern development must consider heritage preservation under the guidelines of English Heritage.
- Stonewest undertook that task of cataloguing every dismantled piece and removing from site.
- Over 750 pallets left Kings Cross for storage, awaiting their future development.
