The James Pulham designed terracotta and pulhamite Victorian fountain was cleaned and carefully dismantled.
The works involved:
- The terracotta elements were shipped to our works together with the salvaged elements stored in the TunbridgeWellsMuseum where the extent of replacement was decided.
- On completion of the manufactured replacement units, the fountain was re-assembled on the existing plinth and minor repairs carried out to the remaining original sections.
- A new support system for the 3 tonne lower bowl was installed to allow its installation prior to the availability of the replacement terracotta.
- A new plumbing system was installed to allow the fountain to function.
