Brick & Essex Courts, Middle Temple
The historic Inns of Court, include several classical brick and stone elevations. Above is one such area, which was cleaned and restored.
The works involved:
- The brickwork was chemically cleaned and the masonry by traditional nebulous water spray supplemented by dry abrasive techniques to the more heavily stained areas.
- Several chimney stacks were unstable and were taken down and rebuilt reusing much of the original materials, but incorporating new terracotta post.
- The rain water pipe was replaced in 5” cast iron and the lead hopper heads repaired and reused.
- The bay window projections were capped in lead and much of the elevation repointed.
